Josh Mckinney has worked in the Hillco Athletics Department for the last 7 years. Five of those years he was the Assistant Athletic Director and the last two he has served as the AD.

Josh is also entering his 8th year as the Knights Head Basketball Coach.  In his first 7 years as the Head Coach he has compiled a 132-57 record that is highlighted by 3 district championships (2021, 2022, 2025) as well as a State Championship in 2022.  

Josh said this about his time coaching at Hill Country, “I prefer playing a fast paced style of basketball where guys have the freedom to make their own decisions.  I have been blessed to coach some great players in my 7 years here that has led to the success that we’ve had.” 

In his spare time he enjoys golfing with his Dad and brother as well as spending time with his family.  He is married to his wife Jessica and they have two kids, Jordan (2) and Olivia (4).  

His favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
